All of our Fauquier Health physicians are leaders, and Dr. Simpson is an excellent example of that leadership. Having held positions such as medical director for our long term care facility, president of our medical staff, Board of Trustee member, and chairman of our Quality Committee, Dr. Simpson takes an active role in supporting the efforts that guide our health system. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Simpson inspires his patients to take a more active role in their own health care decisions.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia in 1990, Dr. Simpson completed the York Hospital Internal Medicine Internship and Residency Program. Prior to medical school, Dr. Simpson earned a Master of Health Services Administration degree from George Washington University.
Dr. Simpson is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Certified Medical Director in Long Term Care through the American Medical Directors Association.
Among his many honors, Dr. Simpson has been featured multiple times as a “Top Doctor” in Northern Virginia Magazine. He also is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Simpson has been in practice at Fauquier Health with Piedmont Internal Medicine since 1993. He has served as the president of Piedmont Internal Medicine since 2004, and prior to that, served as the president, chief operating officer, vice president and medical director of Piedmont Primary Care. He also has been actively involved in committee membership at Fauquier Health, serving as the president of the Medical Staff, and chairman of the Department of Medicine, Quality, and Utilization Management Committees. He has also been a member of our Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, and the Patient Care Monitoring Committee.
Dr. Simpson is married and has three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, trail biking, tennis, music, photography, videography and home remodeling.
